VIXX has marked their 13th anniversary by sharing a commemorative photo with fans, reflecting on their journey and long-standing bond. However, former member Hongbin and Ravi, who left the group following a military service scandal, were notably absent from the celebration.
On May 25th KST, member Cha Hak Yeon (N) posted on his personal social media, writing, “Already 13 years. Thank you, thank you so much,” alongside a group photo of the current four members—Leo, Ken, N, and Hyuk—smiling brightly together. Since their debut on May 24th, 2012, VIXX has captivated fans with hit songs like "Chained Up", "Shangri-La", "Error", and "Scentist", earning steady love for their unique concepts and artistry.
The 13th anniversary photo symbolized the group’s enduring friendship and team spirit, yet the absence of Ravi was a reminder of the controversies that have affected the team. He was convicted of attempting to evade military service by conspiring with a broker to obtain a false epilepsy diagnosis. He received a suspended sentence of one year in prison with two years of probation.
Ravi later issued a public apology, saying, “Through the trial, I realized how serious my wrongdoing was and how many people were hurt. I sincerely apologize to the fans who have loved me for so long.” He also addressed the families of actual epilepsy patients, adding, “I will live with a heart of repentance for the rest of my life.” Explaining the situation, he said he was the company’s only revenue-generating artist at the time, and with COVID-19 delaying contract obligations, he feared facing heavy penalties if he enlisted—ultimately making a “foolish and cowardly choice.”
Hongbin, who had previously left the group in 2020, also did not participate in the anniversary event. The photo included only the four current official members.
Fans responded warmly to the post, leaving comments such as, “Happy 13th anniversary! Let’s stay together for a long time,” and “Your sincerity really shines through. So touching.”
Known as “concept idols” early in their career, VIXX gained acclaim for their elaborate storytelling and powerful performances, especially through songs like "Chained Up" and "Shangri-La". Now in their 13th year, the group continues to express gratitude to fans and reflect on the meaning of staying together through it all.
