The 'Pitch Perfect' film franchise is getting a K-pop twist.
On June 26, American entertainment media outlet Variety revealed that Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions is in the works of producing the TV series 'Pitch Perfect: K-pop Idol.'
Variety announced that Brownstone Productions has signed a new first-look deal with Universal Television, marking a return to the Universal family where the 'Pitch Perfect' franchise first took off.
Variety explained that 'Pitch Perfect: K-pop Idol' will be a comedy series from writer Joel Kim Booster. The show will follow a struggling singer-songwriter who unexpectedly auditions for the first all-American K-pop group, turning her life upside down.
The series expands the 'Pitch Perfect' universe further, following Peacock’s 'Bumper in Berlin' starring Adam Devine. Banks, Handelman, Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, and director Jason Moore, who helmed the original film, will serve as executive producers.
